We are not alone.

Sometime last fall, I stumbled on www.yarnharlot.com, and experienced a shock not unlike the famous "Wow!" signal. "We are not alone," I thought. "I am not the only knitter." Of course I knew about yarn shops, fiber festivals, and absolutely obsessive attention to stitch counting. But I never knew that there were others for whom knitting is less of a hobby and more of a personality trait, as dear Madame Pearl-McPhee says in her latest book. The Yarn Harlot and her magical links list has changed all that. There is a knitting community out there, the existence of which I never imagined, and I want to be a part of it. So of course, I need a blog. With pictures of red socks. Oh yes.

God bless you, Stephanie Pearl-McPhee.
